Artworks files I: EDEN

About Eden

Eden stands for Good and Evil. I intended to allude to an apparently peaceful being that at the same time evokes evilness. It could be a captive soul, or a dominated being, I mean our own duality, the weakness that sometimes prostrates Good before Evil.

The tattoo in the arm tells us about some kind of lord, a leader whose power controls the angel.

The colors of the sky are warm and grey in order to create a dense and oppressive atmosphere, but also comfortable. The trees show desolation, the loss of life..., it's not a landscape, but a spot. I'd like to suggest lethargy, drowsiness, peace...

The bed made with flowers, the romantic and misterious moon and the warm ambient are elements that let us understand some of the reasons which make the angel loose itself in this other paradise, reasons that would be passion, latent in the red of its clothes and in the hot tone of its skin. And the charm of the place, which is a place deprived of life, but full of feelings...

The Origins

Many years ago, so many that I can't remember, I discovered a tool called pencil, and since then I haven't been able to take it away from me...

My love of painting and drawing began so soon that I can't remember at all!! I only know that it took an important part of my childhood, my adolescence and my entire life. It was a constant which set by itself the path. The need of creating is innate in the human being, and it looks for its own way of escape. However, in our society, creating is not always allowed. People value other things, over all in our first years of life. I think that what children need the most is just CREATING.

These natural steps, never forced nor focused in a quick or effective learning, lead me to one an another field. They were linked to the passion for many things, as cinema, mountain or even cemetery walks... with all those things which the creating act had some kind of connexion with.

I began with portrait, going through cartoon, cheramic design, comic and child illustration, till finishing in the world of illustration, where I stopped, by the moment... Among all of them I have to say that I got the same pleasure, what is, for me, the very best reason of this journey. And there's a lot to discover left...

The important thing isn't only the graphic, phisic or palpable result, but I'd even talk about mental health, something whick we usually forget... Happiness, the life development. Maybe it seems that we're talking about psychology... but they're both the same thing, because Art is emotion...

I don't really take into account neither firms, critics nor intellectual, because this is not the language of Art. Art speaks the language of heart, not prejudices nor complexes; the language of soul, where all the ways are possible, where there aren't ties nor rules, where everything is okay.
